When Life Happens, Money Matters

Last week, I wrote about building a life—not just a business.

About creating enough room to make money, handle your responsibilities, and still actually enjoy your life.

Not someday.

Now.

And then… life happened. It became clear I needed to get to California early.

So I did.

And in that moment, I realized how far I’d come—and what money really makes possible.

Because there was a time when this wouldn’t have been possible.

Not emotionally.
Not logistically.

And definitely not financially.

There were seasons in my life where every dollar mattered.

Every decision had to be calculated, and there was no room for the unexpected.

That kind of pressure changes how you live.

You don’t move freely.
You second-guess everything.
You make decisions from survival—not peace.

So when I say money matters, I don’t mean for status or stuff.

I mean, it matters because it creates options.

It gives you:

Room to respond.
Room to pivot.
Room to show up when something important happens.

That’s the part no one really talks about.

Money isn’t just about what you can buy.

It’s about how you get to live.

Whether you can change your plans when someone needs you.

Whether you can step away when life asks something of you.

Whether the life you’ve built actually supports the life you want.

That doesn’t happen by accident.

It’s built over time.

Through many hard decisions, lots of mistakes, but a drive or commitment to never give up on yourself, your hopes, and your desires.

And also, through getting honest about what matters—and what doesn’t.

And no,

❌ It doesn’t mean life becomes easy.

❌ It doesn’t mean everything is neatly figured out.

❌ It doesn’t mean surprises stop coming.

It just means you have the capacity to handle them when they do.

That’s what hit me this week.

Sometimes the win isn’t productivity.

Sometimes it’s presence.

Sometimes the most important thing you can do… is just be there.

Physically. Emotionally. Fully.

And I don’t take that lightly.

Because I know what it’s like to live without margin.

To carry a lot and keep going anyway.

To build a life, one hard decision at a time.

Which is exactly why I care so much about this work.

Because before the numbers ever change… the way you think about money has to.

👉🏻 The way you make decisions.

👉🏻 The way you hold it.

👉🏻 The way you trust yourself with it.

That’s the foundation.

And it’s the piece most women were never taught.

So they keep doing more…

working harder…

trying to “figure it out”…

Without ever addressing the thing actually driving their decisions.
