Does 50 Mean you are Over the Hill?

How often have you heard people refer to being "Over the Hill" and noticed the negative connotation that goes with it?

What does "Over the Hill" really mean?

What does it mean to you?

What damn hill are they even talking about anyway, and when exactly do you go over that blessed hill?

“Over the Hill” is actually just a simple metaphor for making it to the next level.

For a child it is learning to use the potty unsupervised, or being able to tie their shoes without mom’s help.

i.e. they made it over “that” hill…

Graduating from high school – yup over that hill...

Graduating from college – another hill...

Turning 21…. yet another hill...

Are you starting to get the picture?

It goes on and on and on…

So why then, is being considered “Over the Hill”  a milestone symbolizing the decline of life, health, fun or even happiness?

How about this perspective…

Over the hill of being clueless…

Over the hill of not knowing what you want out of life…

Over the hill of tolerating toxic people…

Over the hill of  giving a flip of what others think of you...

Over the hill of making decisions based on others opinions instead of your intuition...

If I am completely honest, I didn’t make it over those hills until after I reached 50… so I am happy to claim I am “Over the Hill.”

It really is all a matter of perspective… (kind of true about everything in life, wouldn't you agree?)

What does "Over the Hill" mean you to you?

Learn, Love, Laugh, and Live Boldly.
