Living the Life You Want

purpose success

Why do we compare ourselves to others?

Oh, because it's normal.

However, often when you compare yourself to others, you lose sight of what’s important. Be onto yourself and remember, you are not in competition with them.

Let's someone else's success inspire you, motivate you, dare I say challenge you. Otherwise, if you find yourself jealous of their successes and resent them as a result, you just plain lose.  Besides, that doesn't feel as good as inspiration does.

The thing is, no more effort is required to reach for the stars and expect success than is required to accept defeat, discontent, and drab.

It is a choice.

You don't have to be like someone else to achieve the life you desire or to have the things you believe you want. You just need to be YOU, times two.

YOU are in charge of the direction you head, and the only person ever in your way is yourself and not your circumstances.

Everything you need is within you, all you need is to believe in yourself.

Yesterday I saw a great reel on IG, "if you could believe in the tooth fairy, the Easter bunny, and Santa Claus for all those years, why not trying believing in yourself just for today."

And tomorrow...

I thought it was brilliant.

Why is believing in ourselves, our self-worth, and our lovability so flipping hard?

Because if you are like most women, you have been indoctrinated by our society, social norms, parental upbringing, and bit by bit you begin doubting your abilities, your worth, and your self-confidence.

But, here's the truth of the matter....

All you need is a strong belief in yourself. One strong enough to carry you through the rough patches. Faith in yourself that you can do it (whatever that is for you) regardless of the obstacles. A belief that failures are ok, and that they are only obstacles teaching you something you needed to learn to move forward. Having a solid belief in yourself will lift you up when you make mistakes (and you will make mistakes), and encourage you not to quit and to move forward.

I read this quote by Jessie B. Rittenhouse, and it stuck...

"I bargained with Life for a penny, And Life would pay no more,

However, I begged at evening when I counted my scanty store.

For Life is a JUST employer, he gives you what YOU ask,

but once you have set the wages, why, YOU must bear the task.

I worked for a meaningless hire, only to learn dismayed,

That any wage I asked of Life, Life would have willingly paid."

Moral of the story?

Life will give you what you ask of it.

What are you asking out of Life?

Are your dreaming big and asking for extraordinary, or are you settling for ordinary?

It is never too late... the only thing working against you is time. Every day you wait, thinking about, wondering, and capitulating if you can be, do or have what you truly desire you waste the precious gift of time bestowed upon you.

Use your time wisely, go for the goal, fail, get up and go for it again.

Keep going and eventually, you will achieve your goal…, it is inevitable.

But first, you have to believe in yourself.

It is up to you.

Please remember, to Love, Laugh and most of all Learn to Live Boldly
