Understanding Your Brain.

brain mind management

The challenge?

Understanding and overcoming your human brain.

Yes, I do practice mind management daily.  However, I still have a human brain and left unattended, it will remain past focused keeping me safe, stuck, and comfortably uncomfortable.

As humans, we don’t like to be wrong, we don’t like to be challenged, and we certainly don’t enjoy stepping out of our comfort zone.

What does it mean to “step out of your comfort zone?”

Our brain likes the comfort of familiarity even when what is familiar isn’t healthy, good, helpful, or even actually all that comfortable. It is the known discomfort rather than the unknown abyss and therefore to our brain, it is preferred.

What is uncomfortable anyway? A feeling? A vibration in your body? What are we talking about here? What types of things make you uncomfortable? Doing something you want to do, even if others disagree? Voicing your opinion? Switching careers? Leaving an unhealthy relationship?

And yet, by avoiding the discomfort of change, you experience a different form of discomfort.  Conforming to other’s expectations comes at a cost. When you choose to remain silent instead of speaking up for yourself, you pay a price. If you stay in a career you don’t love or endure an unhealthy relationship you still experience discomfort.

Think about it. If there is discomfort regardless of your choice, why not choose the thing you want and make a change?

It is possible to allow the feelings of discomfort to wash through you and you do it anyway. Imagine how different your life could be if only you would manage that brain of yours.
